The sector is mandated to do the following; plan land use in the Municipality, protect wetlands and their eco-systems, manage and regulate the use of natural resources, protect the environment, plant trees and green covers in the Municipality and to create awareness on the importance and non-renew ability of natural resources. However, the sector is faced by numerous constraints, these include; Inadequate staffing, insufficient funding, no survey equipment and over dependence on the District Land Board.
